Tryout Camp - DITR Topic

Give tryout camp signees a higher probability of landing a significant DITR designation and boost.

If nothing else, this might encourage folks to keep their minor league pitching staffs full of arms by signing the tryout camp pitchers.

While I'm guilty of it myself, it will also discourage owners from signing late round draft pick pitchers.

Does it matter if the crappy roster-filler arms are coming from the late rounds of the draft or tryout camp?  As long as players are getting signed?

It should matter.  Anything that discourages the signing of draft picks should matter.

For the record, I've been asking for a 10 round draft for quite sometime.    I think I'll start a thread!

I though the problem with not signing draft picks was because it meant new players were not being brought into the world.  So again, does it really matter that new players are coming in via tryput camp as opposed to being drafted, if it "solves" the same problem?

In a roundabout fashion, yes, it matters.  People don't sign their players so they can spend that extra 200k on an IFA.   The people who do that are also more apt to pass on that borderline BL player so they can have another 250k.   Passing on 25th men eventually leaves a talent hole.   So, yes, depending on the tryout camp to fill your roster minimums does create problems.
