Redshirt this guy? Topic

I made the mistake of not redshirting this guy his freshman year. It's his sophomore year now, and I have no scholarships open. Is it worth redshirting him now, so I can start to balance out my classes? He won't get a lot of playing time anyways, since I already have a good PG and a couple more SGs. Thanks

If it helps you balance your class and you are comfortable with your team and his ratings for th position you want him at then yes why not?  I have r/s'd lots of non fr and even sr's

FYI you could prolly cut him and find a better fr but thats your decision to make

cool thanks guys. problem is I only have about 2k to spend since I don't have any scholarships. I considered cutting him, but I don't know if I could get a better Fr for that much.

If you play it right I have gotten good d2 guys for 800 or less so it is possible

Don't forget that if you cut him, your reputation will drop a bit. And since you only have 2k, I would redshirt your current player.

Plus, if you have zero scholarships to fill, you will carry 100% of your recruiting $ to next season, which means an extra $2,000 for you to spend

Unless he has high potential in many areas, as others say, he is not that great of a player. In that case, you would want to get rid of him as soon as possible, so redshirting him is exactly the opposite of what you want to do. Just let him sit on the bench for his career.

You only have 4 SO, so it is not really that badly balanced in that class. You have a lot of SR, so you can start balancing your classes when you recruit next season.
