World Chat Etiquette Topic

It seems each world has a couple owners who post every mediocre player they wish to trade in the WC. This just seems like spam to me. I'm sure I could complete more trades if I did the same thing, but I don't. I can't imagine 32 owners posting links to all their crap. My initial feeling is don't post in the WC unless the player is an impact player, then please do. Pitchers who have at least 73OVR, and hitters with at least 80OVR. THoughts?

The problem with this is that people value players differently. I might have a need for a 65OVR defensive specialist. This player might be considered crap to most people, but is a very useful player to me and I would be glad that I was informed that he was on the market.

Defensive specialists are crap that you can find plenty of in the 'Trade Block'.

With all due respect, I just checked the trade blocks in both of the leagues that I am in and neither had a defensive specialist in it. Most people dont update the trade block. It is alot more convenient and successful for teams to post players in the world chat.

when people post players that i consider mediocre, i often post REALLY crappy players and comment that they're available too.  it amuses me (idiotically, i know), but it also makes the point that i don't think the other players are very good.

that said, it's not as if world chat space is at a premium and should be reserved for palyers that you think are worthwhile, so i see no harm in posting anyone.

The right to post turds in the World Chat is protecxted by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  So unless you have a problem with the United States of America and our way of life, deal with it.

agreed. come on, snotmouth, surely there are people who 'chat' about retarded things in world chat. we may not like it being there, but just move on to the next thing when it is there.

World chat is a public forum.   Complaining about what people post in it is pointless(and I mock the "My turd I'm not going to offer arbitration is avaibable" owners all the time).  If it's too annoying for you to handle or ignore, utilize the block feature.

People need to understand the meaning of "public".

not to mention, amazingly enough, lots of arb guy deals actually get made. it's the cheapest way to upgrade your team as the other owner knows they can literally get nothing in return if they end up releasing the guy. you can offer turds in return and actually get them to accept

Seeing that owners are not always diligent in constantly maintaining their trade blocks or trade needs, WC is often a more relevant place to give and get this type of information as you know it's current at the time it's posted.

Cut out "turds in the World Chat" and replace it with "etiquette questions in the forums", and you'll have my response. I'm not asking for imperial punishment to be handed out. I'm asking around to see if this annoys anyone else and if they hold themselves to a higher standard or not.

No and no.

You can always just mock the players who are advertised or the owners who do it. Mockery is always a useful socializing force.

Some owners hate me for commenting on their crappy, old, overpaid players they post in WC.   I'm sure that's not the only reason they hate me but they get what they get when they post in a PUBLIC forum.

I'll put you down as 1 who holds themself to a higher standard, Mike. THanks for weighing in.
