Are dropdowns solely based on prestige, and does local players drop down more easily? I don't really like these players but even if I did, they are very far away from me, making recruiting expensive and risky.

Local kids will drop sooner, but I think it's under 70 miles. But beyond that I think it's like 95% prestige unless you've sent promises or scouting trips. I've noticed some drop-downs have gotten really bad with this new recruit generation, while with potential, some guys already on my list I'll go all out for.

Yes, dropdowns are based on prestige. The 'A' schools will see dropdowns before the 'B' schools who will see dropdowns before the 'C' schools. The only players you will get those emails from are players you sent a call to. If you don't want them, don't recruit them.
