If there's no rule against cash in player trades then there's nothing (technically) wrong with the deal. It isn't collusion at all, it's two owners with dissimilar interests making a deal that they both feel they can benefit from.

If you want to do something about it, propose to your leaguemates that the world adopt a codified rule set beginning next season. This season, however, you're SOL.

It isnt collusion at all? It fits perfectly under the definition of collusion.

Collusive transactions

Collusion includes any act that supports bad, deceitful or illegal behavior agreed upon by two or more users. Here are a few examples:

  • Trades that clearly benefit one side.
  • Dropping/waiving a player so that another team may pick him up.
  • Using 1 team to scout for another team.
  • Making agreements with other users to go or not go after specific players with the intent of avoiding recruiting/negotiation battles.
  • Coaching 2 or more teams in the same world using multiple user IDs within the same conference or regional area of the country is not allowed as it presents opportunities for collusive behavior. All such situations brought to our attention will be investigated and violations of this policy will result in the removal or relocation of one or all of the IDs.
  • Intentionally throwing a game to ensure another team improves its chances for a post-season bid.
  • Intentionally signing questionable players that benefit the former club (i.e. Type-A free-agents in Hardball Dynasty.)
  • Arranging a trade with another franchise so the other franchise can sign a free-agent resulting in the other franchise receiving compensation picks.

Ah, my bad. I believe the attitude of site staff used to be that you could make "non-trade" deals as part of trades and the only risk was that your trade parter would reneg, but other than that they didn't care. They implemented a lot of new rules over the past year or so and I didn't realize that was in there.

In that case, yeah, this is pretty blatantly against the rules.

Uh, it's shtickless.    Are you really surprised?
8/13/2010 3:37 PM
All the coments were pretty much anti-trade. If that trade wasnt vetoed, then I cant see any deal getting vetoed, ever. Its early in the season when everyone is presumably active--no reason we couldnt get enough owners to kill it.

It saddens me that the good name of Shtickless has been sullied in this manner. Shame! Shame!

In Shtickless World

Here's the initial chats--the most relevant is spacecoyote's proposal

sergei91 s, The Freshmaker 8/9/2010 9:14 PM i need $. send me cash or take on a salary from my minors, take a prospect of mine.
vandydave Disease 8/9/2010 6:35 PM Purchasing prospects, willing to take on contracts.
mbriese Ermeister Meisterburgher 8/9/2010 6:12 PM Purchasing prospects, willing to take on contracts.
spacecoyote , South Patagonia 8/9/2010 5:06 PM I'll pay cash to anyone who signs Morris Hayes.

The following deal is made, and even after many came out against it, it was not vetoed.

for

www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=2815430]Brett Moore
+ $2 million $

The deal was between spacecoyote and another owner..who then signed  Hayes. and earned spacecoyote a supplemental pick.

The commish hasnt said a word in world chat about the deal. There's even a member of sitestaff in the world--and he hasnt said a thing. He must be too busy playing signing horrible FA contracts and playing his ss at catcher.

Clearly this deal is against the WIS's collusion policy. Can anyone justify this as ok?

On top of that, there were 3  deals involving large transfers of cash made within 24 hours. Not against the rules of this league (there are none) but not a good sign. Not surprising given that everyone is posting their willingness to buy and sell players.
The part about the member of sitestaff... is MikeTanker23 sitestaff?

So, does this put Shtickless World a step above or a step below World KP?
8/30/2010 10:27 AM
Damn, did someone(who I have no recollection of) really dig back 16 days to call me a tanker?   Wasn't there another, more recent thread where that could have been done?
8/30/2010 10:33 AM
This is the official **** disturbing thread though.  Can't you read between the lines?
8/30/2010 10:39 AM

I was thinking this had to be 8-10 pages deep.  There's a "Make fun of MikeT" thread that's on page 3(less than a week old).  It has a couple of crappy starts on it too.  Seems like it would have been an easier pick.

is dmurph really surprised that that type of stuff happens in shtickless world? like, for reals?
8/30/2010 12:22 PM
i thought spacecoyote tried more than once to move cash in a deal and his first try WAS vetoed.
