I've been away from HBD for a couple of years so I'm trying to remember a lot of things. My question is this... My new franchise is picking 13th and has spent slightly above the league average on HS and College scouting. 12 million each. I am just trying to get an idea of where my pick might come from on my list. I am guessing it will be maybe the guy I have slotted 7th or 8th. Do you think that's a safe guess? I know there are hundreds of variables involved. But if I remember right I usually got maybe my 15th guy when I was picking toward the bottom. I am trying to get all of the can't miss guys high because I signed 3 type A players and won't pick again until round 5. So what do you think? Do you think I should get a guy 7th or 8th on my list? Just a few educated guesses is all I am after.

It depends on a lot of factors. I just did a draft and got my top guy picking 9. Sometimes I get the guy I slated as 15 when I was picking 18.

I would say that if your pick is most likely going to be one of your top 8.  Looking at the world's average for scouting budget isnt the way to do it though...compare your scouting budget to the guys ahead of you in draft order...the top 10 picks in the draft are usually the top scouting budgets.  I have picked 8th and gotten my #7 guy before.....and I have picked 20th and gotten my #5 guy before...its all relative.

I have picked 9th and got my #2 pick before. With the 12th slot and a 12 in college and High School good shot you will get one of your top 5. Most likely half the people picked before you are not going to be on your list and someone will value a player you picked 6th through 10th higher than your top 5. If I had to pick a over/under I would say 5.5

Thanks guys very helpful. Normally I wouldn't care a heck of a lot. But with signing three type A guys my first pick is crucial. If that pick is a bust and I don't pick again until round 5 it's not looking good. LOL
