I don't think I've ever seen this, so I'll ask: can you have two New York's (Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium) or two Chicago's (Wrigley, U.S. Cellular) in the same league (AL or NL)?

The only times I've seen two New York's or two Chicago's co-existing in a world, they've been in different leagues (one in the AL, the other in the NL).

Early on in Mauer there were 2 Chicago teams, I own Chi 1 and then there was a Chi 2, but in the AL.  But like you said, in different leagues.  I have not seen Chi or NY in the same league before.....

tec--is it possible to just purchase, and then un-purcahse, a team in Williams?  It has both CHI and NY taken in AL but not NL; sign up for an AL franchise and see what's available.

Good suggestion.  I tried to create a New York (Shea) in the AL North but got a message "That city could not bew used".

I also opened a ticket this morning, see if I get an answer tomorrow.

ADMIN has confirmed that it is not possible to have two New York's or two Chicago's in the same league (AL or NL) at the same time in a single world.

I knew about this for a while, but still dont get the reasoning behind this, did they explain why?

Because you thought it would be cool to enter your alias in your division with the same city?    Wouldn't that have been confusing?

Alias? Not sure where that is coming from. It's kind of odd that this restriction is made, especially since the cities in question have multiple divisions they can be used for.
