Yea that is ridiculous. It seems the job process works ok at the lower levels, but at D1 it's just awful. I just finished my 4th season at WVU after spending 5 seasons at Hampton and even with an A- loyalty and 6 NT appearances in 9 seasons including one Final 4 and one Elite 8 D- prestige schools don't want me because "I haven't been loyal enough." I mean really? If a coach with that kind of resume decided he didn't want to coach at a BCS school for whatever reason and wanted to go to a small school that school would jump on the chance.

Another thing is when I left Hampton I was coming off a Final 4 appearance and had a B prestige in a C- prestige conference, I took over WVU who had a B prestige in a B+ conference and my loyalty went from A+ to D-, I don't see how that makes sense either.

Pork - I once suggested in a ticket to tarek that d1 recruiting look at the past 12 season's history, rather than 4, and yep kmason, you should have been a A+ loyality when you took the west virg job, the engine values the work you did at hampton like hampton is an equal with west virg, if you write a ticket up the answer is to have loyality be based off of baseline prestige, not current prestige - make senses, what the school could be, not what it is - right???

the job process is my BIGGEST issue with the sim.  see i'm not a wis apologist.

Agreed. I am 3rd in DI wins, 21 straight NT appearances (a few recent early exits unfortunately), 2nd in NT wins, 2 DI titles, and am not qualified for one of the openings in Tark.

I think the loyalty piece is really important for HD, because it prevents coaches from being able to move up the ladder without ever winning with their own players. This was a significant problem before they fixed it, and would be a big mistake if they reversed course. Having to win with your own players should be a prerequisite for moving up to any level beyond DII.

That said, I 100% agree that the 4-year window system that TK installed (and strenuously defended, lol) is absurd and needs to be overhauled to take into account a significantly longer period of time.

Have been staying that the system has been broken forever it seems like and this is just another example of it.

Girt, I agree to some extent with what you are saying about loyalty but the current system takes it a step further. In my case I won with my own players on every team I coached, I was at Whitman for a while and had a lot of success, I went to Central Oklahoma and after my 4th season I won NCOY of the year and moved on Hampton. Now the really odd thing is after 4 seasons at West. Virginia and 3 NT appearances winning 4 games in those 3 appearances I'm not even qualified for Hampton but after 4 seasons at a D2 school and with 2 NT wins in 3 appearances I was qualified. It's also extremely odd that I'm not qualified for D- low D1 jobs but B prestige Alabama is a step backwards for me, I don't see the logic.

That's a joke Pork, I'm glad you sent in a ticket.  Mason, your situation sounds odd also.

What? The job system is broken? STOP THE PRESSES!!! ALERT TED KOPPEL!!!!!!1!!!1111!!!1!!!!!

Heading into season 20 in Naismith, this four season resume couldn't have gotten me a promotion from Tennessee:

19 antonsirius 21-12 9-3 7-7 5-2 9-7   13 - NT At-large Bid
NT (Final Four)
18 antonsirius 22-12 9-5 6-6 7-1 12-4 24 12 - Conf Champion
CT Champion
NT (Final Four)
17 antonsirius 14-13 8-7 6-5 0-1 8-8   119 -
16 antonsirius 22-8 13-2 7-4 2-2 10-6 18 19 - NT At-large Bid
NT (1st Round)

I had two DI championships at previous schools as well.

Yeah it is sad that we are complaining about the same thing 27 seasons later anton. I would hope that it would have gotten better in that time spam. I think that it hasm a little bit, but clearly not nearly enough.

grecian you said you are not qualified by any schools in Tark. Not even Syracuse is "Keep Looking" for you? Are all schools listed as "Step Backwards".

I am happy as hell that my second choice did not auto decline me. Now it will be an even bigger issue when we see who beats me out for this job. I doubt it will be a coach with over 1000 wins like me lol.

Darn schools still have not made up their minds. I think they should just go ahead and resimulate the entire early entries and start over.

That is just ridiculous - I just took a hit from A+ to A- when I moved from Marquette to UCLA last season.  The UCLA did have the prestige edge, but it was still listed as a Step Backward.

I also think it is insane that loyalty only matters for the low DI schools.  Every big conference school - including the available A+ schools - are listed as 'Step Backwards' for me, as are some of the bigger mid-major conf teams, but I am flat out not qualified for every low DI opening.  So A+ Syracuse, after losing their coach of 37 seasons, is willing to take a coach with loyalty concerns, but D- Middle Tennessee State with 6 wins in their last 2 seasons would refuse to talk to a coach with 2 DI NTs and 3 DI NCOY awards?  That just seems backwards - the elite schools are the ones who are going to want stability from their coaches, low end teams should be happy to recognize that they are stepping stones and be happy to get the best coach they can for 3-4 seasons.
