Are you talking about to seeding, or selection?  The title made me think you wanted to fix the system of seeds once selected, but your talking about selection.

And please don't take this the wrong way, but you have the control to schedule an NT level non-conference schedule.  With your conferences, setting a schedule with 6+ simAI's and no one in the top 100 RPI is going to set you up for failure with a few bad losses when it comes to making the NT.

I've played HD since before we could schedule our games, and as you can see by my records, I'm the picture of a .500 coach.  But trust me when I say you want control of your schedule.  Before if I took over a rebuild, I may end up with 5-7 top 25 teams on my non-conference schedule, that didn't help me improve my prestige at all.  Or on the other side, when you were finally getting good, you were hit with an 300+ SOS, leaving you zero margin for error in losing games.
