Delaying Arbitration Eligibility 4 minor leaguer Topic

I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times.  If I have a minor leaguer that I want to call up this season and want to delay his arbitration eligibility for a year, then at what point can I call him up?  I've seen forum posts that contradict each other.  Is it 20 minor league games played?  Is it the ML team playing 20 games?

Thank you,

Minor league assignments of less than 20 days are treated as major league service time.  I believe a minor league assignment implies an active minor league schedule, so it would be 20 minor league days.

My rule of thumb: if your team's minor league schedule starts with the AM game on Wednesday (for example), do your callups after the AM game the following Wednesday.  That would be 22 minor league days.  But it takes the math out of the equation.
