I'm frustrated with this player... I get 160 IP out of him as a starter every five days and solid stats, but he usually only gets about 4 to 6 innings in for each outing. Is that really the best role for him to play on my squad? My bullpen is pretty solid behind him--usually, but I've considered putting him in a setup A role starting in the 7th inning with a PC of around 40, hoping to get 80 pitches out of him in games where I'm leading every 6 games?

I'd like as a starter than setup in the 7th every 6 games. Though if it was me I'd up his PC when he starts. 95-100.

I'd do what you're doing with him.  Way more leverage that way.

Right now his pitch count is set to 75... maybe could stretch it out a bit more?

What's his typical fatigue after a start?

How long does it take for him to get back to 100% after he pitches? if it only takes 2-3 days you might up his pitch count so he gets back to 100% the day before or the day he pitches.

What I do with a guy like him is I would keep my pitch count as is and move him up the rotation every time he is 100%. That way you get more starts out of him.

Yeah, he doesn't seem to get back to 100% until either the day before his start or the day of his next start--so it's hard to slot him in there earlier because it's hard to tell if he goes from 85(90) to 90(100)... or if he'll go from 85(90) to 90(94) or something.

I would think his durability would make it tough to get any more innings than your getting out of him if you used his as a reliever.

Up his pitch count.  You might have to skip him (or switch him with the guy after him) once in a while....but he should be able to throw 90 pitches.
