Whatever you guys are using to count runs during a game is too small. It rolls over at 255. You show me scoring 102 runs and losing, when it was actually 358 and I won. Consequently, my opponent didn't get to bat in the bottom of the 9th.

Yes, we cap runs scored at 255 (a byte database field). For baseball, the rationale for going over that just wasn't there. It's not a simple change so it's not one we can knock out at the moment. Sorry.

I am the founder of this theme league. Here's the theme description:

"Let's break some records. All offense. Must use exactly these 6 pitchers. 04 Denny Stark Rockies, 77 Frank Lacorte Braves, 49 Marlin Stuart Tigers, 00 Darwin Cubillan Jays, 80 Jack Billingham Sox, 92 Ryan Bowen Astros. All teams at Coors. Division winners / wild cards determined by most runs scored. See forum for details."

As of now, 100 games into the season we have had 3 occurences of a team scoring more than 255 runs. Each occurence is causing problems.

I'm going to go over them one-by-one:

1) 7/28 am - Tumbling Dice at Runspelstiltskin. Tumbling dice scored 358 runs, but because the run counter rolled over, it appeared that Runspelstiltskin was winning 150-102. Runspelstiltskin did not bat in bottom of ninth. Runspelstiltskin got the win but actually lost.

2) 8/21 pm - my inferiority complex? at You Got The Silver. You Got The Silver was up 305 to 156 after 8 and a half innings, but because of the rollover, it appeared that You Got The Silver was losing 156-49. You Got The Silver batted in the bottom of the ninth and scored 13 more unneccessary runs, making the final score 318 - 156. You Got The Silver is now listed 2nd in the Theme League Single Game Team Records for Runs (1 game) with 318. That number should be 305. Also, You Got The Silver's '21 Babe Ruth is now listed as #1 in the Theme League Single Game Individual Records for Homeruns (1 game) with 18. Since 1 of those homers occurred in the bottom of the ninth, that number should be adjusted to 17. Also, You Got The Silver is listed 2nd in the Theme League Single Game Team Records for Homeruns (1 game) with 80. Seven of those homers occurred in the bottom of the ninth, that number should be adjusted to 73.

3) 8/25 pm2 - Tumbling Dice at Brownie's Wallbangers. Tumbling dice scored 266 runs, but because the run counter rolled over, it appeared that Brownie's Wallbangers was winning 157-10. Brownie's Wallbangers did not bat in bottom of ninth. Brownie's Wallbangers got the win but actually lost.

I know this is a pain for you guys. but because of the nature of the theme, "Division winners / wild cards determined by most runs scored", the innings not played (#1 and #3 above) may affect who makes the playoffs.

Is there any way to "finish" those 2 games so that the home team gets last bat?

Thanks.

elbirdo

Unfortunately, there is not. The game and engine just aren't setup to be able to continue a game like that.

We have it on our list to expand some of these data types in a future build, but it's not something that can happen anytime soon.

Sorry.

08/27 05:26 elbirdo One more time - 1) 7/28 am - Runspelstiltskin did not bat in bottom of 9th , 2) 8/21 pm - You Got The Silver batted in bottom of 9th , 3) 8/25 pm2 - Brownie's Wallbangers did not bat in bottom of 9th... if you know of a 4th please point it out.
08/27 05:20 elbirdo You are mistaken. That was the 7/28 am game I've already listed? I listed what I believe are the only three occurances below and that was one of them.
08/27 01:09 blazinrocks ive already pointed out a 4th time elbirdo the game you set the scoring record at 358
08/26 21:36 elbirdo I'm pretty sure it's only happened 3 times - If you know of more, please point them out to me.
08/26 18:31 blazinrocks oops again it should be 305
08/26 18:30 blazinrocks oops it was 358 runs in that game and by the way elbirdo you also have the second highest scoring record of 318 which should actually be 303 since you shouldnt have had that last at bat, still waiting to see those records changes 18 HR's to 17 HR's
08/26 18:27 blazinrocks it was the game elbirdo scored 395 runs and the home team didnt get a last at bat because it looked as though they had already won the game......I mean each of us have played 99 games you cant tell me its only happened in the 3 you mentioned
08/26 18:25 blazinrocks and gdhonig makes a great point too because I'm sure this has happened more then just recently during the season in fact I seem to remember it happening almost within the first 15 games of the season
08/26 18:22 blazinrocks its not up to me 15 runs seems kinda cheap when sometimes a team might go for 50+ runs in an inning or they might not score at all the only true fix would be for the sim to actually sim those innings over and it doesnt sound like they're going to
08/26 18:21 gdhonig how can you start compensating or subtracting runs for one or a few teams and not do it for everyone?
08/26 17:55 elbirdo I can take away 13 runs from You Got The Silver - that's easy. Runspelstiltskin averages 15.5 rpg and Brownie's Wallbangers averages 14.2. If I credited those teams with an innings worth of runs, would that be equitable?
08/26 17:46 elbirdo 8/25 pm2 - Brownie's Wallbangers did not bat in bottom of ninth
08/26 17:44 elbirdo 8/21 pm - You Got The Silver batted in bottom of ninth even though they had the lead - 13 unneccessary runs
08/26 17:41 elbirdo 7/28 am - Runspelstiltskin did not bat in bottom of ninth
08/26 15:17 blazinrocks elbirdo I'm not trying to ***** and complain about this but since it hasnt happened to me yet however it seems to have taken place several time during the season and it'd be sad if someone ends up getting screwed out of a playoffs spot
08/26 14:55 blazinrocks thats messed up especially when the playoffs are being decided by run scored???? this needs to be addressed and fixed for every game its taken place in throughout the season, none for me but what if someone misses the playoffs because of that????
08/26 11:46 elbirdo nope - that's precisely what happend 8/25 pm2
08/26 09:25 blazinrocks sorry is a very lame answer from them I just want to say, I mean what happens when you are actually losing in the bottom of the 9th but it says your winning do you ever get those at-bats back to try and make up those runs you're losing????????
08/25 18:40 elbirdo So this problem manifests itself in 2 ways. Sometimes you bat in the bottom of the 9th when you dont have to and sometimes you dont bat when you should. And admin says "sorry".
08/25 18:34 elbirdo Apparently the runs show up in the team rankings - just not in the box score. They also show up in the "records' if applicable. Since Tumbling Dice was visitors, Brownie's Wallbangers never batted in the 9th cause they were "winning".
8/27/2010 7:45 AM
09/08 19:47 elbirdo The run scored as listed in the "team ranking" popup are accurate. The ones on the "advanced standings" in the league office are not. The correct numbers are obviously being stored somewhere.
09/08 13:54 kammeyer Ouch!! Your pitch count for Cubilan was off my more than 400 in that game, OUCH!
09/08 13:51 kammeyer I dont think it counts runs accurately in the data base either because even though SIM scored a ton of runs in his game i should have gained at least 40 on him, I fell further back.
09/08 13:51 kammeyer This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. Its not your fault, your just the commish so i thought you should know.
09/08 13:45 kammeyer It happened again Elbirdo. I scored over 255 runs again and it only gave me credit for 32. It was against your Tumbling Dice team on the 9/8 pm game. This time it is you that did not get your last at bat.
09/08 13:40 blazinrocks hey runspelstiltskin got screwed again and its definitely not counting the runs in the standings because I picked up 160 runs in the standings that game and really I should have lost almost 100
09/05 12:11 elbirdo noted - well done
09/04 01:39 rge464 Just had a game in which my team scored 278. Zookeeper did not bat in the bottom of the 9th because they were winning.

09/12 13:33 1964Cards My team "beat" Sim on Steroids 183-2. Obviously, the glitch still continues and my team didn't bat in the bottom of the 9th.
09/11 08:32 elbirdo It looks like they removed Num Pitches from the team rankings - pitching - extended popup. There used to be an error message at the bottom. I think summing up the pitches to compute the league avg caused a problem
