how many evals til a player accepts a HV/CV? Topic

what determines this?

for example, if you want to go heavy on a d1 player in one cycle that you haven't spent anything on yet, do you want to throw in 20 evals before a CV to get him to consider you or what?

I think the standard is 10, that usually gets it done. But I've done as many as 30 or 35 can't remember exactly how many it took.

also the CV is totally unneccessary. by the time the guy accepts it, he is already considering you :)   10-13 is about right for the first shot, depending on prestige (takes a couple more as prestige goes down) and how highly ranked the guy is (takes a couple more to get a pulldown guy at the low end of who will drop vs the high end, based on his ranking probably), and how badly you want him (the more you want him, toss on a couple extra, just to be safe - a somewhat common example for a high end limit pulldown might be 10 pulldowns first cycle, 2 second, 2 third, then considering you... you could have done 10 2 2 or 12 2 or whatever. more common is you do 10 2 and it could be 12)

I started doing pulldowns last season and pulled one down with 7 scouting trips. This season, I'm 12 down and still haven't pulled down. This is D3.

i mention CV's because i want to be able to load up on CV's the first cycle i recruit a guy (if necessary), and to do that i need a safe number of evals to put out so he doesn't turn down CV's.

Billy is saying there is no reason to do any extra effort if he's considering you.

If I really want the guy and know others would to, I often throw on a few visits with it. This just does enough effort to make sure anyone else trying to pull him down will be shot down. Other wise, you'll notice the same cycle you got another school on him. Generally when a coach sees me on him, they stop trying or at least stop after they see 25+ evals isn't cutting it, and the email comes out that he is 'tight' with me.

For example. He declined them, and then I just forgot to re-offer them. That is usually what I tend to do. I get less/no carry over, but I also have no worries about everyone else trying pull downs. I'm in an area with tons of coaches within 200 miles, and it was becoming a joke at how every season me and some coaches would always show up at the same time because everyone and there mothers used pull downs. Doing it this way I have not had a coach end up on my guy in about 5 seasons now. Considering it was happening multiple times per season, I'd say its worth it doing.

I think everyone else read this question as relating to a pulldown, but that was never mentioned by the original poster.

If I was reaching in d1 and wanted to make sure he'd take the CV/HV, I'd go with 20 Evals first. At a lower level (either d2 or d3 non-pulldowns or a d1 guy in my normal range) I'd go a considerably lower number. Maybe 5 at d3, 8 or 10 at d2/d1 (assuming local/affordable).

I always use 10 the first cycle after getting the backup message.  Then 10 more if needed

10 more!! a little wild there brian. strongly consider going with 12 in the first cycle in any case when you want the guy enough to do +10 in the second, and strongly consider dropping to +4 or less on the second :)

If you pulldown, will the player still drop down to other D3 coaches?
