Ridiculous rebounding in exhibition game Topic

Not my teams, but I was checking out exhibition games for teams in my division.

This one struck me as odd that a team in my division was able to beat the #7 team in the nation by nearly 20.
#7 UCSC @ Cabrini
Looking at the boxscore, it didn't take long to see what made the difference in the game.
It appears both teams started their best players, and played a normally positioned defense; but Cabrini was able to out-rebound #7 UCSC 44-26. I would feel bad for jbohrman if this was a regular season game.

Feel free to check out the ratings of the players involved and weigh in on your opinions. Personally, I think WIS needs to take a serious look at rebounding at release that update soon.

Why would a team playing a FCP defense be able to get defensive rebounds?

UCSC is a really young team as well.   No seniors, a FR starter and most of the major minutes off the bench came from FR as well.

And UCSC played uptempo, the team ran into some serious fatigue problems.

I understand all these factors would make it a closer game, but would any of you expect Cabrini to outrebound 44-26? Especially with 17 rebounds going to 2 players with Reb ratings under 35.

You're absolutely right.  The starting PF is reasonably athletic and that helped him (I and many others think that athleticism currently plays too large a role in rebounding, as I've been seeing athletic SGs with rebounding in the teens or single digits averaging 5 and even 6+ rebounds per game over full seasons).  The backup PF isn't even athletic and still got 10 rebounds.  I don't get that at all.

Maybe whoever was rebounding against him was "overperforming" on the boards for the game and had his abilities adjusted down.

Big difference in OFF/DEF IQs, probably shouldn't read too much into an exhibition game when one team has a large incoming recruit class (6) and the other doesn't (3).
