I dont think the engine even uses this logic.
Turnovers and assists are randomly generated based on all 5 players on the floor. Telling the engine "who" is starting the play has no effect.
*who* gets the turnovers and assists are randomly generated based on all 5 players on the floor (and its not just random, at least not the way i understand it - its a random factor in conjunction with the the ratings and possibly player distro for each player). the frequency of overall assists turnovers most certainly relies on the players on the floor, and i would be very surprised if it wasn't weighted by the player's ability to control the ball, or to run the point, whatever you want to call it.
