if you set his min to zero his rating will still go down, you need to still put 7 min
Not true. This is an approach that I resisted for a long time but once I tried it I found out it does work. Once you get the maxed out email from your AC, you can safely put the minutes to 0. Find some old posts from gillespie/coach billy g. He explains the theory behind it and how it works.
Can anyone else comment, please?
well, now that weena so kindly mentioned me already, i guess there is not much point in me commenting. but i will anyway (because i have been tooting this horn too long, i am deeply committed, so i just can't stop now :) and yes, i know i am a glutton for punishment, or i would have given up on helping people realize this very long ago)
anyway, potential rate of increase and rate of decrease are very strongly tied together. when one goes to zero, so does the other. so when you max something, there is very very little to lose by not putting 0 minutes in. technically, you might lose like a tenth of a point over a season or something, but for all practical purposes, you don't lose anything by going with 0 minutes.
and for any who remain skeptical, just try it once. that is all it takes. for the longest time i couldn't believe how many people insisted you would lose points, because i knew they must not have tried it. what do you have to lose? if you pay a moderate amount of attention, and try it one or two places, you can lose a couple points on a player - which is essentially meaningless. but what do you have to gain? 7 minutes times how many categories times how many players in perpetuity... so i suggest any who don't use the 0 minutes approach just give it 1 chance (make sure you have gotten the capped email). also, i use 0 minutes for non-capped low potential categories all the time (lower end of low potential, probably 2 points improvement or less) and experience very very small losses. so once you see the proof of concept (by trying on a capped message), try to optimize further by experimenting with 0 minutes with low potential categories.
