I would like to ask D1 coaches whats the best way to start recruiting
in D1 to get a player to consider your school.

My second question is do I continue to recruite the same way as my prestige
get better or do I start recruiting different.

If your just starting off in DIV I you probably have a low prestige school? If so, use alot of visits to get recruits to consider your school. Recruit locally.

I agree, site visits work. Before you get to that point though, you need to know who to spend them on. I would send out a single phone call to several prospects at the positions you are looking to fill and see how high up you can go. Don't even think about getting star rated players. It won't happen. Use FSS and find players who have good potentials in core skills that may be below the radar of the higher prestige schools. When you get positive responses from players that fit the mold, use the visits to reel them in. This approach will change as you move to higher prestige schools but at the lower levels this is what works.

Just to clarify - site visits means Scouting Trips.

how many scouting trips will it take.

I know HV's and CV's cost more and take less visits.

I would like any estimates to get them cosidered.

The number of scouting trips necessary varies based on multiple factors. It generally takes 10-12 visits for a pulldown so I would guess the number would be less than that but by how much I couldn't say. Sometimes you just have to learn by trying it out and seeing what works. The general concept of recruiting doesn't change from DII and if you have done well enough to move up to DI, you should know what tools and approaches to use.
