Do guys like Eduardo Castillo really exist in RL?  4-6 stamina will net about, what, 10 pitches, max?  What pitcher is gassed after 10 pitches?  This has probably been brought up before, but I can't remember when, so I thought I'd throw it out there again.

It's similar to the philosophy that was had about 0 power generating 0 HR no matter how many at bats the player has.  If a rating of 0 is the 0th percentile, and 100 the 100th percentile, 0 or 1 stamina should be at least 15 pitches, right?  And 100 stamina should be something around Edwin Jackson's no-hit performance (150ish)?  Is there really a guy, when healthy, that has dominant stuff but can't go more than 10 pitches?  As it stands now, this guy is useless.  If he gives up a walk, he's already thrown too many pitches and has to come out.

So my suggestion (since it's a suggestion forum and not a complaining forum) would be to either keep the stamina engine as it is but set a min stamina rating around 15, OR make 1 stamina guys good for 15 pitches, 100 stamina guys good for 150 pitches, and work out the increments from there.

Yeah, it's been discussed before.    It's an attempt, I assume, to replicate the LHS in MLB.   He comes in and faces one batter every other day or so.  He throws 1 to 6 pitches and hits the showers.   If you choose to carry one of these types, you just have to know how to utilize him.

Chad West is an example on how you can use a guy of that manner. However instead of listing him as a LHS I have him as my only Left Handed Set Up A. He typically comes in for 1-2 batters. One time though I remember thinking WTF when he faced a 3rd batter. But he only threw 7 pitches in that outing.

I use this guy as a SuA.   http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=984584   Obviously, he only gets an out or two per outing.

Essentially, your request would turn him into a closer as he'd be able to pitch an entire 3 up, 3 down inning.   His value would be much greater then.

Yeah, I can understand what the SIM is trying to replicate.  It just seems silly to think a guy has thrown all he can throw after 5-10 pitches.

And your point, Mike, leads to a different thought.  Should makeup factor in to whether or not they can succeed as an closer (or succeed in the 9th, as you could just set him to SuA and not have a designated closer)?  Can he handle the 9th inning pressure, or does he do much better in a 7th or 8th inning role?  That would separate guys with similar stuff into closers and setup men.  I haven't really thought through what else that would cause, so that may be a stupid idea, but it popped in my head so I threw it out there.

Well, you could make the same argument for low dur position players.

81 games a year?  C'mon.    I'm 47 and I could play more than 3 games a week.

That's true.  At 26 y/o, you would think injury may prevent him from playing 150 games, but certainly not fatigue.

Again, it's just WifS' attempt to replicate the real world and force us to build 25 man rosters.   If every SP could go 8 innings(other than old Roger Clemens and young Joba Chamberlain has there ever been a legit BL pitcher that wasn't physically capable of throwing 8 innings every fifth day?), every RP could throw a complete inning every other day and all position players could play 150 games a season, we'd build our teams with playoff-like rosters where only 18-20 players get in the game.
