I think it has been mentioned before in suggestions but nobody really looks there. I really feel that depth charts based on situation would be a great idea. Case in point I was just down 6 late to a #22 team. Under two minutes all my starters were in regardless of fatigue. That's fine except my two best 3pt shooters are not starters. One is a freshman with c- knowledge and the other is too slow to start in a press. Regardless of this, these two would definitely be in the game if it were real. Instead I had a 46pe guy missing 3 consecutive 3's in 10 seconds thanks to good offensive rebounding. I gotta think one of my guys near 70 would have made one of those especially with one shooting 42% from three.

A 3 point depth chart would be a good idea and could be implemented in team game plan. At a certain time, with a certain point margin, use this lineup. Same goes for a ft lineup. If your up say 4 or 5 and you know you are going to be fouled, have a SF go in for a PF/C if he shoots better FT. Once intentional foul starts, on that whistle sub in these players. if it becomes a one possession game, sub them out again for maybe a defensive lineup. This can go farther as to getting big lineup if your getting crushed on the boards or a fast one if FBP is high for the other team.

Just think it could give more user control to outcomes

I like the sentiment, but the execution is hard. I suspect a lot of people would just forget to fill in a second (or third) depth chart. Instead, what if in the "losing late" box, you added a checkbox for "Insert better perimeter shooters"? If you selected this box, it would simply put in the guys with higher PER at each position (based on your depth chart) once you were down by X points with Y mins to go. Obviously, PER isn't the only factor that goes into 3pt shooting, and you'd be taking a risk in other areas, but at least it would get your 30-PER soph PG out of the game for his 50-PER backup. If what you need most is three's late in a game, this would be a super-simple way to go for it.
