MLB All Time Greats 10 yr Progressive (DEAD) Topic

Theme
This will be a 10 year progressive league using only MLB players from 1901-present.  In season one, all player seasons used must be from a year ending in "1", i.e. 1901, 1911.......2001.  In season two, all player seasons must be from a year ending in "2".  Players must be used over a 10 year consecutive period and you can "roll-back" one time if desired.  For example, if you selected Lou Gehrig (1925-38), you would have to start with his 1931 season.  Most likely, you would choose to go 1931-36 and then roll back to 1927-30.  This would be acceptable because from 1927-36 is a 10 year period.

With a player like Ted Williams, who is sim eligible in 1939-42, 1946-51, and 1953-60......you could start with 1941 or 1951, but the period of time has to be 10 year consecutive, so you couldn't go 1941-42, 1953-55, 1946-50.  This doesn't work because 1941-55 isn't a 10 year consecutive period.  You could go 1941-50 (and lose 1943-45) or you could go 1951-55, 1946-50 (and lose only 1952).  The latter option is acceptable because the span would be from 1946-1955 which is a 10 yr consecutive period.

Roster Rule Clarification:  Just to clarify, you don't have to draft only players who played for 10 consecutive seasons.  This rule is only to govern which player-season you use for keepers.....thus preventing an owner from cherry picking seasons of long career players.  If you want to draft a player with a few good seasons but not a full 10, there is no rule against that.  For example, if you wanted Mark Prior, you could draft him in season 2, as his WIS career is from 2002-06.  Obviously, you would have to drop at least one player to make room for him, but if you did that he would be available.  After season 5, you would probably want to drop him and pick up a new player for season 6.

Rules
1.   League Format:  Standard WIS Format of 24 teams, 6 divisions, 8 total playoff teams.  If we can't fill 24 teams, we will consider filling at or above 16 teams.
2.   Salary Cap will be $255MM.
3.   Ballparks:  All ballparks available from 1901-present will be available.  WIS Park will also be available.  Ballparks will be drafted.
4.   League Settings:
  • DH:  To be voted on, either all or none.
  • WW:  No
  • AAA:  No
  • Transaction Deadline:  Yes
  • Injuries:  Yes
  • Randomly Align:  Yes in year 1, subsequent years will follow same alignment
  • Trades:  Yes (14 vetoes required)
  • Limit Live Play:  Yes
  • DL:  Yes--no limit to how many or length of time a player can be on DL

Initial Draft
As mentioned above, all players drafted must be used from 1901-present.  Draft order will be random and will use a Modified Serpentine Format--commonly known as 3rd Rd Serpentine.  Rd 1 = 1-24, Rds 2&3 = 24-1, Rd 4 = 1-24, Rd 5 = 24-1, etc.  Basically everything is the same as a standard snake draft except Rd 3 is the same as Rd 2.  Each owner will draft 25 players + a ballpark.  The first 18 rounds will be one player/pick.  The final 4 rounds will be two players/pick for a total of 22 rounds.

Off-Season Format
As we approach each off-season, all owners will be required to name their keepers and DL players for the upcoming season.  There is no minimum or maximum # of keepers.  An owner may keep all 25 players if he wishes.  Ballparks may not be switched after season 1.  Draft order for future seasons will be worst to first, no lottery, no win floor, etc.  Tiebreaker will be Exp Win% (aka Pythag Win%).  H2H will be the 2nd tiebreaker if needed (worst H2H record gets earlier pick).

Rewards
Whatever rewards that admin will kick in will be split up based on a point system.  If the league will agree to all kick in a $10 GC to be added to the normal reward admin offers, we'll pay 5 spots(assuming 24 tms; if <24, then will pay 4 spots).  If not, we'll pay only top 2.  Top 5 split will be (45%, 25%, 15%, 10%, 5%) and top 2 split will be 70%/30%.  The formula to determine points is the following:
  • Regular Season Win = 1 pt
  • WC Losers get 5 bonus pts
  • CS Losers get 10 bonus pts
  • WS Loser gets 15 bonus pts
  • WS Winner gets 25 bonus pts
