I took over this team and the starting 2B and SS are up for FA.  SS is Type A, 2B is type B.

Do you take the supp picks and let them walk to work on the rebuild, or sign them to 6mill for 3-4 (asking price)?

I had written a post about how you should keep the SS and turn him into a 2B but then I saw how old he is... I would just dump them both and take the picks for sure.

Lesliechow  - That coming from the bum that joined 10 leagues including one I was in then dropped out due to "being overwhelmed"

Thanks Prez, I dont have many options at those positions, so it makes it tough, but locking into 3-4 more years will be tough to absorb.

Mike T23 +1, except to add that if someone does sign them the picks are fine compensation.  They're very good bench players, or fill-in starters while you rebuild or if you have expensive, excellent players across the rest of your roster.

What I was going to say, although since you're new to the world letting them walk is also a good way to test the market for players of that caliber. Most likely they float and drop their demands, but if the world is low on quality middle infielders (or high on crappy owners) they might snapped up. Either way, it's good information to find out.

That's good point anton! The other thing to consider is what you have in AAA to replace them? If equal or better.. let them go. You could also do what Mike T suggests...

A further point... if you are going to let them go and maybe get picks, don't go short on Scoutng for the draft - HS & College etc. Nothing hurts more than letting players go and getting nothing in the draft because your scouts didn't find that much..
