What the heck does baseline prestige even mean?
Baseline Prestige, as I understand it, is a prestige that each D-1 team has that is based on where the team is "historically at". It is a Normal, so to speak, where the team is happy.
You can get your team prestige above or below this prestige based on your current performance, but the team will quickly adjust itself towards the "baseline" (if it is significantly above or below it), when possible.
For example, if LSU has a B baseline prestige and is currently a C- due to poor performance, they will quickly get back to a B with much less effort (maybe one season). Where BYU has a C as a baseline, so it would not go from C- to B with the same performance ... it would take more to get BYU to B than to get LSU to B from that C-..
