Not alot of catcher options in the world. Its only season1

I'm not sure why you'd consider #1 when you have #2.

Safeco pretty much masks any PC difference between the two, and that's his only real advantage that I can see.

one will be DH the other will be C, I;ll try to sign a better defensive C to sub in late in games.
11/10/2010 4:12 PM
I would start #2, use #1 as my backup catcher and go find another cheap huge bat to DH.

Indeed.  You should be able to find a better bat than #1 in FA... and #2 is a perfectly good C for a pitcher's park.

I was hopeful that #1 was decent enough to play and spend big on SP/RP next season.  I think i may be expecing too much out of him.
11/10/2010 4:51 PM
He's not a total slug, but given def. ratings of
7 18 62 56 55
vs.
5 26 60 66 46

I'd probably tend to play #2 at C, even if their bats were equal.

A better bat than the first guy shouldn't be a huge cost since his D won't matter.  And really, if you don't want to spend the coin, don't.... but having the first guy as your b/u C and maybe even part time DH could work out really well - with both of those guys, you don't have to worry about DUR for your FA bat, you know?

Mostly agree, except that I'd prefer to have the defensive catcher as my backup, to start 40 games and catch the 8th/9th innings of all close games. Which leaves you trying to trade #1; he won't have a ton of trade value but you might be able to get something somewhat useful.
