This may have already been asked a dozen times...but exactly how important is pitch calling for a catcher?  What kind of difference would you see in your pitching staff between a catcher with pitch calling of 75 and one with 100?

Is the pitch calling rating worth giving enough weight to that you suffer in offensive categories?

This guy shouldn't need any help with pitch call or anything related to HBD.    He already knows everything!!!

Some say a hit is not an out.  And a guy with 80/80/80/80 ratings will get some hits.
A guy hitting .350 with an OBP of .380 may not be as valuable as a guy hitting .250 with an OBP of .425.  Simply put, the guy with the higher OBP gets on base more than the guy with a lower one, hence not making as many outs genius.  Many other factors should be taken into consideration as well, such as OPS, which incorporates a hitters ability to get on base with his ability to move runners along with his batted balls.
And he may be more valuable, genius.  Given the choice, I'd take a team of .350/.380 players over a team of .250/.425 players all day.

Which is why I would like to join whatever league you are in.  I would love to play against guys that think the way you do.....would make trading so easy!

There are many threads on the subject.  Just do a search for them (tab on top of the page).  What you'll find is people have very different opinions on how much it matters.

a lot of opinions out there.  Looking at my experience here is some stats from two C's on my team who platooned together over the course of 7 seasons:

Season                    C1 PC                C1 ERA             C1 Inn        C2 PC                C2 ERA          C2 Inn
10                              60                         4.86                    769              85                         4.82               667
11                              61                         3.94                    859              85                         4.56               606
12                              61                         4.20                    916              85                         3.82               552
13                              61                         4.10                    597              85                         4.12               588
14                              61                         3.69                    941              85                         3.67               523
15                              61                         3.13                    868              85                         4.23               594
16                              61                         4.44                    813              85                         4.17               563
Totals                        61                         4.01                  5763             85                         4.20              4093

Statistically speaking the 61 rated PC was better than the 85 PC over the course of the 7 seasons.  Some of that has to do with the fact that he was on fire in season 15.  Despite these stats, I do believe that a high PC player is valuable and next season I'll have two completely different C's, one with a PC of 55 and one with a PC of 83, so we'll see how big of a difference those two have on the pitching staff.
