To minimize an opponent's speed advantage.  We run a man defense in D-II and our guards have speeds in the low 60s.  We will be facing teams with a speed edge all season long.  If we sag on defense does that help prevent the opposing guards from blowing by us?

yes, I think playing a "-" defense should help along the lines you're thinking

yes, it will. but also with low spd, your ability to compensate for the additional distance between the other team's perimeter players is going to be low. so if its a heavy 3 point shooting team, i would definitely not sag (and would play a +)
