Sort of a two part question, I'm at Alcorn State in Phelan (Big Sky).. I struggled trying to find the right starting lineup all season. I run a Flex-Man/Press and thought that I had a pretty decent team this year, but only RPI'd 83 (even though it was a mid major). Here are the 2 main lineups that I went with, could you fellas let me know which one you like better? And if you have any suggestions on what I could have done differently, that would be awesome as well. I consider myself to be a decent HD'er (not great by any means), and I went back and forth about 100 times all year debating.

Lineup 1
PG Black
SG Gilpin
SF Stewart
PF Ferrari
C Waters

Lineup 2
PG Black
SG Gilpin
SF Holland/John (switched them a few times)
PF Stewart
C Ferrari

with Waters as the backup for both Stewart and Ferrari. As you can see, lineup 2 was a smaller, more athletic lineup. I also ran a third lineup that was identical to #1 except I brought Gilpin off the bench and upped his distro and put him on getting tired. Thought it would help my second unit.

My second question was midmajor scheduling at D1? I took a mix of few Big 6 sims, user midmajors, and a couple very good Big 6 users. What is the most effective way to schedule at a D1 midmajor?

Thanks fellas.

Okay -- some thoughts:
1) I would drop the press.  The extra 3 TOs you're getting per game don't offset the fact that your players don't reach a reasonable IQ (A-) till their senior year.  I wouldn't practice any less than 23 minutes on O/D, and press is taking away too much of that.
2) I like lineup 1 -- small ball doesn't work in HD (obviously there are exceptions, but actually, your 3 big guys are amongst your best players -- use them!
3) Scheduling -- those 10-17 BCS opponents are a bad way to go.  Why?  50% of RPI is based on your opponents' W-L, so no help there.  And, mediocre BCS teams are still going to be a tough win.  Better to play a 17-10 low-level team that you're 30 points better than.
4) Hey -- why not RS agnew?  If you're not recruiting top 50 players at their position, shouldn't be too hard to get a RS on one of them.  Seems to me unless there are extenuating circumstances (only 9 players on the roster, etc), you should always RS someone.
Anyway, just some thoughts.  Feel free to SM me with any questions.

Thanks, I appreciate it. RE: Agnew, he would not take the redshirt. I know I could have paid for it, but that money needed to go elsewhere. I took the gamble and he wouldn't bite when I offered it. -30 WE both times I tried.

As far as the press goes, you're probably right. I'm betting I probably win a few of those close games if I had better IQ's.
