Learning new offense/defense Topic

Will players learn a new formation faster if they actually play in it? I ran a man-to-man last season in Tark but started practicing zone about halfway through the year, since I eventually want to switch to it, but I kept running man-to-man while I built up the IQ's. This year, I'm thinking I have an opportunity to switch up my defenses depending on the opponent, which will be a nice luxury... but suppose I run mostly man-to-man again this year. Will the IQ's for zone across my team go up more slowly? Would I be better off running mostly zone in games this year to get my players to learn it more thoroughly for the long-term? I've also got 25 minutes in zone practice right now.

Thanks!

Not to bump a post or anything but an answer to this question would be very helpful. Thanks!

I don't think the effect from playing the offense or defense is significant if it exists at all.

It exists, but it's not very significant.
