70 is not even close to the record.  I think there's been somebody in the 90's in one world.

Dallas hit .392-88-228 in season 10

This guy hit .341-90-250 in season 9.

From what I understand, it's much less likely to happen now, as WIS has (controversially) curbed home runs.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Andruw Butler had 96 homers in one season for us...over 200 ribbies too...he didn't even win the MVP that season ! And like Barry Bonds, the fact that he never exceeded 66 homers before exploding for 96 led some to believe that he may have been using some kind of illegal substance...

All these happened during the WIS steriod era, which has been adjusted.

For the most part, these all world "records" are meaningless as they were typically aided by not just the HBD steroid era, but also by tankers with minor league pitchers pitching for the ML team and/or fatigued pitching staffs.

These number are rediculouse, they gotta make it more realistic. I dont think peple hit 90 hr in a season in real life.

They already did.  A while back they adjusted the engine to reduce the huge power numbers.  The engine was originally based upon the steriod era of baseball, when that ended they made an effort  to adjust the high end power numbers.

As an aside, how many homers would Bonds or McGwire have hit if they played in Coors Field?  What would have happened if their division opponents decided to use AA pitchers in an effort to save money?  These questions apply more to Sim Baseball than HBD- but they are relevent when compairing HBD results and MLB results.

Both McGwire and Bonds played their careers in pitchers parks.  If they had played in a hitters park like Coors Field they would have probably averaged 10-15 more homers per year over the course of their career.  Thank Gawd both are now gone!
