This year, for the first time in my HD career, I have been given an 11th non-conference game. I have no problem with this as it makes the period between NC and conference games that much short, plus it's an opponent I (hopefully) think I should be able to beat.
However, I am also looking to make the NT this year and was hoping to keep my RPI up this season. The team I am playing in my 11th non-conference game is a SIM AI team (and has been for 3 years), which had the 189th RPI last year and, while there are actually a few decent players on the team, doesn't look terribly likely to finish much higher this year. I am also playing them at home.
For those of you who have had the pleasure of getting a mythical 11th game, what exactly does it do to your RPI if that extra opponent ends up having a crummy RPI? Is it possible to be actively hurt by this game (assuming I win), even though I'm replacing not playing at all with a victory?
Thanks in advance for any help.
