I also always carry 11-12 pitchers -- the 5 SP's, 2 Long Relief guys, 2 setups, and 2 closers. Sometimes a mopup pitcher as well. This way, I have a 'primary' and 'secondary' pitcher for any situation, and no one tends to get down to 0. It leaves the bullpen healthier for the end of the season also, and my primary closer still notches up about 30-36 saves. Carrying only 4-5 hitters on the bench has always been enough for me, if they are the right guys and you rotate them in and out as needed -- a catcher, a SS, a infield guy and outfield guy.
