Tonight in Naismith a Sim coached team (California Riverside) is playing for the DI National Championship. This will be the 1st time since season #18 that a SIM is playing for the title.

Further proof that although mccabemi is a great recruiter, he must be a horrible coach.

I have alot to say on this topic.... which I intend to post to the forums at some point.    To your second point Mully: you may have hit the preverbial nail on the head.

I have never coached in DI, but I like the idea of competitive SIM teams.  Currently in DIII, and the times that I played in DII, I am tired of the horrible sim teams that throw everything out of whack.  If more SIM teams were competitive, it wouldn't matter so much for good coaches to find mostly human-controlled conferences.  I have a solid DIII team with only 1 or 2 other coaches in conference, but I seriously don't want to move to another conference just for the sake of competitiveness.  I would embrace a resurgence in the SIM.  I think that a SIM team in the NC game simply means that human coaches didn't get it done.  I don't see anything wrong with that.  Are we as human beings so fragile that we would get extremely butt-hurt that we couldn't make the grade in a sim-game?  Unfortunately, for many people that answer is yes.

I don't mind slightly-below average SIMs, but I wouldn't want them to be powerful.  Riverside was human coached until this season so that doesn't bother me.

Also a SimAI PIT champion at D2 in Naismith (one year removed from its human coach...)

Yeah, the proper context really needs to be put on this; he built a monster there; had already won a title, made another championship game appearance and if you ask him he'd tell you he built that team for this year. Luckily however, after years of bugging him he joined the Big 12, which is the only reason hes not at the helm himself.  In any case its the exception not the norm.
