I was a low level D1 or high level D2 coach

totally new recruit generations... lower than the past

Maybe I should be more specific & that would help - I just took a D- D1 team have been away from the game for a year I have 4 scholarships to fill.  Any advise on recruiting or any game changes that have happened in the last year that would effect the way I recruit?

I feel a little rusty & don't want to start off by making a big mistake!

fatigue is killer. find stamina. it is as important as some cores now IMHO. athleticism is more important than ever. FB/FCP are tough due to the fatigue thing...beyond that, I am no expert at DI , so you'll be best served to wait for other opinions...

eta: I hear that the stars for recruits don't correspond to what they used to mean, if that is of any help...

Just finishing 1st recruiting season at d1 with a d- team. There are far less players so look through scouting and jump on them early. Juco will go fast including the players rescinded right before signing. Went for ath and def with goal of 80+ each, found a few. Noticed that a conference mate signed a 4 star 660 or so rated #33 or so with a c prestige so goal is to play other d prestige teams in non conference and hope to start next season at a d d+ prestige. Tomorrow ends recruiting and there are still quality freshmen so its okay to be patient except for jucos or 600-700 rated upperclassman who are gone. The highest rated non fresh is 578 or so. For fresh, I was able to talk to recruits in 570-580 range but be cautious if they are quality since there are fewer good players, all but 1 was jumped on by higher prestige teams. I ended up avg in the 530-540,range with great ath,def. Will see next season where I can look when my d- prestige as well as getting loyalty back to a+ both improve.
