I guess it's all about winning the CT.  These are four 7 seeds and an 8 seed.  IMO, team 1 has the best resume, but I am completely biased because that's my team.  Am I wrong here?

Indeed. Got myself of 4 seed losing to Narcotico in the CT final.  Pacific Lutheran, a team I beat, won their CT and got a 2 seed and our numbers are very similar (RPI and such).  And since you beat me and have the best SOS, I dont know whats wrong with the game. But you still lost in the 2nd round of the CT. Its pretty much bogus. 'Nuff said.

I think if you made it to the CT Champ and lost, then I would agree with you. Those other teams got an additional game under their belt and more overall wins. With these numbers, I would rank them #5, #2, #3, #1, #4. 

Just curious if it's an issue of keeping conference teams from playing early?  If you were the 7 seed in that bracket, you could run into East Mennonite in round 3.  Randolph-Macon means you can't be a 7 in the West.  I wonder if the logic/script tried to put you there then shifted you down to avoid those problems?  Yes, it could've looked in the other spots, but I don't know how in-depth their script for seeding is in the conference-mates department.

I believe conference mates can't play before the Sweet 16, but it may be the Elite Eight.

That could very well be it and that's what I will choose to believe because otherwise I would feel like something is broken.
