Can anyone explain exactly what it is to put guys on revocable waivers after the trade deadline?  What is the point of having a trade deadline if you can still "trade" after it?  Can you only put a guy on Rwaivers and try to trade once?  What if you cant come to a deal?  Or is it just that you are restricted to moving him via trade with the guy who can win the waiver claim and no one else?

Whatever team that claims a player that you put on revocable waivers is the only team that you can trade said player to.  If he clears, you can trade him to anyone.

It's technically the non-waivers trade deadline.  Any player traded after it must clear wivers- it's the same as in real life.  Players are often traded after the deadline, but they must either clear waivers or be claimed by the team they're being traded to.

I had a player claimed , after trading deadline.   He is headed to his third year of arb and I think he is overvalued already.   The owner who claimed him offered me a trade that I don't like.   I countered, but he hasn't accepted yet.   So this player is in limbo.   I cannot assign him to AAA as the system will not allow me.    So what will happen if this other owner and I do not come to terms?    There are 16 games left in the season and I would rather have this player back in the majors than sitting in limbo.    I think the OP asked a similar question, but I don't think it was answered.  Thanks in advance

If he's not assigned after 10 real life days, he'll be released.    But you did NOT put him on revocable waivers.  You apparently designated him.

I had a player get caught in that same limbo (I wanted to know the answer to this question more than I wanted the player).  If you designate a player without options for assignment with revocable waivers and he gets claimed, the player enters into a limbo where the only two options you have are to trade him to the claiming team or release him; you can't assign him anywhere.  Ultimately, we could not work out a trade and the player was automatically released after 10 real calendar days.

When you place a player without options on revocable waivers, don't designate him at the same time; that way he stays on your major league team.  If you need him off the major league roster, you have to designate him with normal, irrevocable waivers (and lose him for nothing if claimed).

If the player has options remaining just demote him if you want him off the ML roster, then place him on revocable waivers; don't designate him.

See my long answer.  You can do both-- but it's risky.  It doesn't always end well if the guy is claimed, and it doesn't go any better than placing him on irrevocable waivers if he isn't.

I designated - no options for minors left.  There was an option to use revocable waivers as part of designation process... which i did.   I didn't know I had to part with this guy if he was claimed.  i thought I could reel him in and put him back on BL roster.   My mistake.   In any case..   he is up for a 3rd arb and I was going to let him go to FA anyway.   The other owner is proposing a marginal fielder with some speed and very little bat.  I countered and asked for what appears to be a career AAA starter or a marginal long reliever / B in the majors.   The only real fail here is that I could use the waived player on expanded rosters.   Oh well... live and learn
