Scholarship Message Topic

I checked some of the other threads, but didn't see this message addressed. So, am I ahead or behind (knowing it's close either way and I have more effort to put in) if I got this message:

"Coach, I just can't say yes right now...I'm still supposed to take a campus visit of another school. I should know more after that."

Also, the "campus visit" language is just for show, right? I assume he's not actually telling me what another coach is doing.

Just for show.

Can I tell from this message whether I am/was ahead or behind?

Too close to call.  When in doubt...spend.

So apparently it's actually a behind message. According to the word on the street,  he was leaning towards the other team at that point.

I'd be surprised by that.  The gap required to be behind on FSS is wider than it is on a schol email.

Not sure how to explain it then. The FSS message that came out (34 minutes after the scholoraship e-mail, I just missed it at the time) reads:

'Word on the Street' as of 2/01 2:34 am EDT: Our sources are saying that he's definitely leaning towards playing at XXX.

And no doubt on this advice. I dropped a big chunk of change on him with scouting trips, home visits, and campus visits and I am now leading.
