you did discover the only real downside to promises to ineligible recruits. Sometimes they get themselves eligible, and if you sign him you now have to honor those promises (or suffer the not meeting your promises penalty)
Exactly. It sucks when that happens, but it's a chance that you take. I recruit ineligibles alot and usually make them promises and it
has come back to burn me once. After that, it's like Dacj says, you either honor your promises or don't and then deal with the consequences.
One good thing is, if the player stays ineligible, the promises don't carry over to the next season, so his starts and minutes promises get wiped out and he can be used just like any normal second year player.
