Recruitng Costs Topic

Quick question for everyone. Recruiting has kicked off in Crum and I have noticed something weird and wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them. Have two different players that are 360 miles away exactly. The weird thing is that one player in Wisconsin costs ore than the other player that is he same distance away in Mississippi. Why do they not cost the same since they are both 360 miles away from me? Thanks for any info or help.

According to the system they use, if a guy is actually below 360 and rounded up, he'll have the lower costs; if it's above 360 and rounded down, he'll have the higher costs.

you see the same phenomenon at 200 mile players. no way to know if its going to be the expensive or cheap version of visits, until recruiting starts (although i guess you could try to google maps it, but that sounds pretty horrible)

This is the way I understand it to work also.  You could do what Billy_G said and use Mapquest or something and I'd guess that one of them is a little over 360 miles away in the real world and the other is a little under 360.  I ran into this also many seasons ago and thought it was a mistake, but when I checked how far away they would have been in the real world, that's the best answer I could come up with.

i dont think mapquest is going to help you because i imaginet he distances are "as the crow flies" so to speak, and not actual winding road distance

Yeh, I think game distances are crow miles.  Which doesn't make a great deal of sense if you think about it - if my staff makes a scouting visit, we're not taking carrier pigeons.  We'll probably rent a van (at least that's what my head scout tells me).

I am going to recruit solely by carrier pigeon from now on.

it is as the crow flies... thats why i said it sounded pretty horrible =) you could use a ruler to measure it vs the miles key, but it seems like margin of error would be at least a few miles.

geobytes likely looks at the center of one city vs. the center of another city.

I tired this a few seasons back and it was close, but often 20 miles off.  No help if you're trying to figure on 358 miles vs. 362 miles.

I tried on a recruit from last season.  Off by 20 miles.

I don't know of any way (based on city) to determine if a recruit's distance is rounded up or rounded down.
