My guess is there are no plans for this, although I think it would be okay.  Just give the other 64 an off-day in between.  If we didn't have the play-in game before, I'm not sure we'd get this either.

The NCAA did it to make more money not because it actually benefits college basketball. The way the D2 and D3 tournies work in HD are already far different than they do in real life, so just being like real life in this regard is not an issue.

A better (and more logical) question would be "when will the NCAA make it a 64 team tournament".... like it should be.
