Rejected phone calls: the end? Topic

A couple of the D2 guys I called when recruiting opened for my D3 team didn't even take my call.  It wasn't a backup message, it was a flat out rejection according to the History tab.

I scratched them off my list and moved on.  Now, with 1 more day to go before signings start, I notice that neither of the guards I wanted are considering anyone.  Granted, that doesn't mean they're not being recruited, but I'm very tempted to drop another $10 phone call on both of them just to see what happens.

If I just wait, is it possible that they might contact me as Drop Downs and ask to be recruited?  Or does that just happen with backup messages?

pretty sure you can cross them off your list. a little birdie once told me that it's not 100% but for all intensive purposes, it probably is.

Ethan I had a similar thing happen to me like what you are talking about. I sent out a call to a DII guy and even dropped some scouting trips on him (Not a very smart play by me) thinking that for sure I would at least get the backup message, but I got flat out rejected. Up until the last day of signing he was considering no one, and ended up going Juco.
So I would say that it is pretty safe to say you should just cross him off your list and move on.

Thanks, guys.  How disappointing.  Those were the 2 best guards I was looking at.  Time to go back to the drawing board.

If the phone call was rejected (i.e.-you didn't get charged the $10 for it), the player will not initiate contact with you. On the other hand, if you've been assessed the $10 fee and received some kind of rejection report (" I think we both know I'll be going to a bigger program than..."), then there's a shot he'll make contact with you if nobody's snooping around from the division he's listed at and giving him interest.

As opposed to all intents and purposes?

Similarly, I've always wondered about the phone call that gets charged, but there is no message from the recruit.  I generally take this as equivalent to a rejection but haven't tested the theory.  Anyone know?

I like the ones where the recruit yells at you to stop calling them and slams the phone in your ear :)

At least it's clear where I stand.  Not taking my call without comment seems to be kind of passive-aggressive.  That's what I get for recruiting psychology majors.
