So I have a guy who says: "You took me to arbitration three times, so I'm going to test the market".  If I trade that guy, would he be willing to re-sign with the team I trade him to?  I know that, normally, guys that want to test the market won't be willing to sign even if traded, but it seems like this guy just has a problem with me and would change his mind if traded?

When you have arb eligible players and you don't match or exceed thier request and or sign them to a long term deal, they will leave more often than not.  If he has already notified you (your at the start of your season) that he is going FA, then you don't have a choice to trade him.  If your nearing the end of a season and your trying to extend his contract than you can try to trade him prior to the end of the transaction deadline and or end of the season if he meets the eligibility requirements for transactions prior to the deadline.  (ie must have cleared waivers). 

Again if your at the start of your season, he's already gone, unless you can outbid other teams to resign him, assuming anyone else wants him anyway.

I've yet to see a player change his mind without a ratings drop.

I've traded for a player that refused to sign an extension with his former team because he was arbed three times.  He signed an extension with me.  He had patience and makeup ratings in the high 90s

I'm discussing trading for a guy who has a season left, and only decent patience (52). He's 27 and an 80 overall. With that age and patience, how likely is he to re-sign? Does anyone have a sense the patience/re-sign connection is linear, or exponential? Thanks.
