Which D1 coaches are on the hot seat? (Knight) Topic

The first two or Notre Dame seem most likely if the coach does not make the NT for the next 2-3 years. But coaches verrrrrrrrry rarely get fired in HD.

I think one reason that we don't see many firings is because a lot of times coaches will move on their own when they hit in jeopardy?  Not sure.

I don't think Virginia is in much danger at all, OU probably should have been given an at-large bid last season, so I don't think they're in trouble yet either, or Missouri.  I agree with others, ND is probably in the most danger.

yep, case in point, Alabama.  He got the boosters complaining message, and bolted for Montana State.

I'd say Virginia is in the least danger of all, I'm surprised they even showed up on this list.  They made the NT two seasons ago (should keep that coach safe for 4 seasons, probably 6) and they'll be good this year.  I've heard that a coach gets 6 seasons with no post-season appearances until he's fired at a big 6 school, so if ND doesn't make the post-season this year, I would anticipate them opening up.

Notre Dame has a season or two of leeway

the key is that the boosters complaining and jeopardy stuff works in steps - they would have been at meeting expectations until last season - because he got the wins up each of his first three seasons - and then got a positive change to prestige - I bet he was just flat there

then he would have gone down to boosters complaining

if this season continues the way it is going, he will move to jeopardy

THEN he will need to do something to improve or at least hold there - like a PIT season or even a 20 win non PIT season would hold him at jeopardy but not fired. On the other hand, an 8-19 season NEXT season could get him fired I think

I tend to agree Mets, the 18 win season two back will save him for now.  I think anything short of the postseason next year will get him fired.  But he may jump ship anyway, as coaches on the brink of getting fired are apt to do.
