Additional seasons? Topic

I am interested in trying out HBD and I am curious as to whether I can just purchase the initial season, and then assuming I like it, purchase additional seasons afterwards...or to have access to all of the game options do I have to have additional seasons already purchased? (ie...GD you can not redshirt guys or schedule next seasons OOC games without having at least 1 more season purchased) Thanks in advance for the info.

Yes, you can buy one season at a time and play the game on equal footing.   However, until you've played three seasons, you have BASIC roster management.  It's slow and cumbersome but it's designed to keep n00bs from screwing themselves.    Personally, I wish they'd do away with it as I think it seems to make the game too time-consuming but they won't.     If you like the game, don't let that stop you from playing more seasons.

I really wish they'd give you the option, if you sent a ticket in as a noob, to give you advanced control.  Its such a pain in the butt.

Basic roster management requires that every roster move you make be done one at a time, usually involving multiple mouse clicks and multiple page loads.  The "theory" behind it being that each page load has detailed information on what you're doing, and gives you multiple opportunities to confirm each action.

Advanced roster management (the option you get once you have three completed seasons under your belt) allows you to group multiple moves together at once with fewer mouse clicks and fewer page loads.  In short, it cuts out all the intermediate B.S. and confirmations.

So it doesn't really give you anything more than ease of use.  It also assumes that, since you have some experience, you're not going to make n00b mistakes with your transactions.

Once your team is set-up, you won't need to make that many roster moves.   Activate/de-active players, if you micro-manage your minors, will frustrate you.   Other than that, it's not so bad.
