Greatest Franchise - Mega Tournament - Win $500
Which of the original 16 franchises is the best of all-time? Who are the best sim owners? This tournament will answer both of these questions. And there will be lots of prize money involved. But this tournament isn't for everybody. Serious sim-owners only.
General Info
This mega tournament is open to the first 32 people to sign up. These 32 people must form a partnership of two. Each of these 16 partnerships will build 16 rosters (8 per owner), representing each of the 16 original franchises. The 16 franchises will be entered in 16 different leagues (one franchise per league). So in essence, there will be 16 leagues being run simultaneously, with each owner running 8 teams.
Entry Fee & Prizes
Each owner will purchase a $40 gift certificate (more details on that later). Admin should contribute at least $120, making the total prize pool = $1400. There are three ways to win. If you are one of the top 4 partnerships (measured by cumulative regular season W-L% of all 16 teams), then you split one of the four prizes. 1st = $500, 2nd = $300, 3rd = $200, 4th = $100.
Also, there will be two additional leagues after the first round is completed. The 16 World Series winners will be placed into one league. Alignment will be random. This is the best of the best. The World Series champion of that league wins $100. The runner-up wins $50. These prizes are paid to the individual owner, not the partnership.
The other Round 2 league will consist of the best of each franchise, measured by regular season W-L%. If two or more teams are tied, then the highest pythag. expected W-L% advances. If still tied, then most runs scored. Again, the World Series champion of this league wins $100. The runner-up wins $50. This is to the individual owner, not the partnership. And yes, it's likely that some of the teams will advance to both round 2 leagues.

One More Additional $$$ Prize:
If you are worried about your partner bringing you down, I have a special prize that I am contributing from my own pocket. Each owner's regular season W-L record for his 8 teams will be compared to the average regular season W-L record of those 8 teams (his record will be excluded in calculating the average) The owner with the biggest cumulative W-L differential will win an extra $100. So don't spend too much time worrying about who your partner is. Just try to draft the best franchise teams you can.
