Have many seasons under my belt, but has been what seems like forever since I took over a new team.  Is there a period of time "after" taking a new position that I can "cut" a player, or must I wait till next year?  10 Juniors on my new SIM recruited team (Phelan / Austin Peay) and two walk on freshman that will drop off.   However at least two juniors I could also cut and not think twice, and give me a four man class.

Once the season rolls you will have the cut option. You won't get the $$ for those scholarships though, just open roster spots.

First year D1.......what is the budget per recruit?

You do get the budget for those recruits after another season passes, however, as long as the roster slot is open.

So if you're ok with taking some walk-ons for a season, you can sit on the scholarships and get the money next season.
