I have a prospect asking 6mill to sign, has his heart set on college. What is your experience with this? Is there a chance he might sign for 10mill, etc? Would like some examples of past players you have negotiated with.

If you want him, offer him the 6 million.  It doesn't help to offer any more.

What is the exact message for his signability status?

Do not offer more than what he is asking.  If you offer his asking price and he refuses, if he wants to sign he will come back with a revised demand.  Offering more than his demand will not influence him at all, and could just end up costing you more money.

I offered the original, no response so am considering the 10. Has his heart on college was core orig message.

Thanks. I will wait to hear back, thanks

If you really want this guy, save the rest of your prospect money.  If he does want to sign he's probably going to come back with a higher asking price than the 6 mil.

If I offered his demands and he doesn't sign, will I have 2 first round picks next season or has that part of the game gone away? Was a rule at beginning but that was 30 seasons ago or so.

Yes, you will get your "natural" first round pick next season, and you will get a Type D pick at position "n+1", where "n" is where you picked this season.

Thanks for the knowledge.

About a month left in the season. If I withdraw the offer and sign an int player so 7mill is not wasted..will I still get the 2 draft picks next season? Thanks again.

You won't get comp until he refuses to sign. Then you can spend that money elsewhere. If you just withdraw you will get screwed out of the comp pick.

Hopefully this knowledge will help someone else in future. The prospect is happy with initial offer but has heart on college. Will he make a decision before season ends or have you seen similar prospects end the season with no decision? Would love a decision to move on and sign an int player but refuse to lose the draft pick. I imagine, he has to refuse initial offer to receive compensation, lowballing so he rejects will not work..am I right?

Correct - you're stuck in limbo until he either signs or outright rejects the offer for his initial demands.

You will get a decision before the season ends.  I've never had to wait more than 7-10 real life days after the initial response.

It will show a blue X which means he has made up his mind and you are getting a comp pick, after that don't mess with it
