1970-71THROUGH 1988-89 DRAFT LEAGUE Topic

Hello I would like to start a theme basketball league where you would draft individual players. For example if someone picks Wilt from any of his seasons, then no one else can have him. I communicated with Whatifsports and they told me they are not set up to do this type of league, and that I should do it in the forum, and ask other owners who may have done similar themes for advice. I would like it to be a league where you may pick players that played from the 1970-71 season through the 1988-89 season. What would be the best way to do the draft? I assume it would have to be done here in the forum, and a list of players that have been claimed would have to be made. I would  obviously  would want it to be as fair a draft as possible. Maybe drafting by position would be one way starting with centers? If anyone is interested in joining and giving advice to help it along I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you SIXERNUGGETS.

There are many of those leagues right now.  If you are interested in playing one try ncih's 52 Mil Draft league.  Scudmissle has one that drafts by position.

Hello and thank you for your advice. Do the theme leagues you mention draft individual players. Example if someone picks a particular player then no one else can have that player. That is what I am looking to do in my theme. Because most other leagues everybody has a Wilt, a Jordan, a Lebron. I also am trying to set it so you can only pick players that played from 1970-71 through 1988-89. That is when I think the game was at it's best and most interesting. Thank you once again,SIXERNUGGETS.

player exclusivity is key to drafts like the funk52 & the ODL, yes.

I sort of like this idea. I agree for the most part that the most  interesting basketball was played in the 70's and 80's. What teams have played more beautiful team basketball than the Blazers (Late 70's only), Lakers, Knicks (Early70's only), and Celtics? The Jordan Rules Pistons, Pat Riley Knicks and yes the Isolationist 3 Point Shooting Rockets of the 90's sort of all killed the beauty of player movement and ball movement. Today's Lakers are mostly great but is the Triangle Offense that pretty to watch? All of this is just IMO. Sorry about the rant.
