LP For Guards= good layups and finishing Topic

If a guard has a bad low post rating (EX: 2) will it effect how good he will be able to drive and finish around the rim? If so should i change his 3pt on the player game plan to like +1 or +2 because he has a 83 perimeter?

my answers= Yes.  +1

IMO a guard with say 80+ BH and 80+ SPD and 1 LP and a poor PER could still be a solid inside scorer.

But does LP ratings have anything to do with finishing around the basket or driving (if the player is fast and has good BH) and making a lay up?

It used to not, whether it does now or not, I'm not sure.  I think it plays a role, but is not the sole determining factor.  Low post used to just refer to low post moves, which were more important to big men.  Guards don't need "low post moves" to get to the basket and score.  They're more likely to use their speed/ball handling.  But I'm not sure.

Thanks sol phenom! Thats what i always thought that it determined on SPD and BH but i didnt know for sure and I thought maybe i was looking at it wrong so that is why i started this topic.

LP DEFINITELY has an impact on guard's finishing around the rim.  As sol said, it used to not matter at all for guards.  Now it does.  That's not to say that guards can't be effective scorers inside without a bunch of low post, but they'll be much better if they do have it.

If you have a guard with high low post, make sure he isn't on +1 or 0 3 point frequency so he has the tendency to drive the ball into the lane and use that low post.

I think in the new engine LP has a lot to do with all scoring from close in - some statements about that in dev chats, but thats a blend of experience and forum fact.

This guy just finished his career at Kansas - mostly set at minus two to get the benefit of his inside game.  He was a terrific scorer AND drew lots of fouls which is an added benefit of a high LP guard ....especially if he has ATH and SPD

Check those FTAs - he had high but not overwhelming distribution - he drove the lane and drew tons of fouls

Wow, that's my kind of slasher. Great player. The ball handling and low post make him an incredible scorer. I think BH is really underrated by a lot of coaches when it comes to scoring guards. I had a similar player at Alcorn State in Phelan a few years back (not as good, 85 ath, 85 speed, 90 bh and 53 LP) and he shot amazing from the field even with a perim rating of 65.  The play by plays were awesome. Leonard John with the fadeaway. Leonard John with the finger roll. Leonard John with the floater. Leonard John slams it home. Still my favorite player I've ever recruited.

Here's his player card
