Does going to the DL help recovery? Topic

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on that?  I'm wondering about a guy who is out for 19 days..  is his recovery any different based on whether he hits the DL or doesn't?  Thanks..

yes...I don't believe you get the "injury recovery" bump unless a player goes on the DL.  Keep in mind sometimes they don't receive all that they lost, but I don't think you have a chance getting that unless they go on DL.  Now some may come back with "they still get a ratings recovery even though you don't see that line on the player card", but I'd rather be sure.

question, if a guy is out for 19 days, what is the downside of putting him on the 15 day DL?  I understand the debate if a guy was out for 10-12 days and you'd like to play him on days 13, 14 & 15.  But at 19 days, put him on the DL every time.

basically i don't have anyone i want to call up because i don't have any particular needs / AAAA type guys i want to bring up that have options.  So my thought was that I could wait to see if a need arose in the next 8 HBD days or so and see if a need came up (due to another short-term injury) that would allow me to bring a guy up along with putting this guy on the DL..  which would, in the end, avoid a demotion penalty for the guy i brought up.

But in light of this news, i just threw him on the DL anyway with no corresponding action.  thanks!

You do not incur demotion penalties for guiys you demote provided that (a) they were called up in the same cycle as an "add to DL" transaction, and (b) they were sent back down in the same cycle as the corresponding "remove from DL" transaction.

I have never got a demotion penalty when demoting anyone during a DL transaction move, whether I called up the guy to replace the DL guy or he had been on the roster for more than a season.  I am not sure that part (a) is correct.
