How difficult of a time have you had trying to redshirt a player when he is the only one listed at his position? Have you foundthat they will fight. Maybedrop him on depth chart and wait till after game 1 if I can keep him from getting in a game will increase the odds of accepting?

Very difficult. Unless, maybe, he's like the worst guy on the team.

Thanks. My worst player is Claude the uncordinated tuba player with ashma.

Another redshirting question here

Would you guys redshirt a guy after you got this response during recruiting?

Hey coach, I've had some time to think about it and I don't want to sit next season, especially at Wisconsin, Platteville. I'm sure I can contribute right now. I'm going to look at some other options.

rudy, if you used inform of redshirt (and never did an inform of non-redshirt) and the guy signs, he will accept the redshirt without a WE drop.

Good deal.  Thanks

Given that IQ improvements are either entirely or nearly entirely independent of playing time, does the IQ of a redshirted player increase as quickly as if he were active and playing?

When changing from zone to press once I had a freshman play zone all year with an f rating.  I only practiced press.  Playing zone all season never moved him.  He probably averaged at least 8 or 9 minutes a game.  One 20 minute practice would make him a d-.  Seems actually playing a set in games has no impact at all in spite of what the original game designer said.

I'm aware of that, I just would like someone to confirm that redshirted players experience the same IQ improvement rate as active roster players.

From my players of the last few months- if they do not receive the same IQ improvement, it hasn't been larger than the random/GPA learning curve.
