Are we allowed to sitemali about recruits to one anothe on What if Sports or not?

I have heard several different things on this. Is there a rulebook that says one way or another.

Thanks

Sorry if this is clearly spelled out somewhere and I have missed it. I remember a bunch of us talking about this several years ago but I don't remember how it came out.

In what respect?  In general I wouldn't say much of anything to anybody with any specificity during recruiting and run the risk of violating the Fair Play Guidelines.  I'd say anything you can't say publicly (in the forums, on the Coaches' Corner, etc.) is probably better not said, at least until the recruiting period is over.

Where do you find the fair play guidelines?

I got sent something from another coach and said I am not sure exactly who I am recruiting at this point but told him I am looking at 4 or 5 different guys but not sure which one I am going hard after at this point.

I'd say you shouldn't answer that privately via sitemail.  I wouldn't answer it at all, really.  But if you're going to tell people who you're pursuing, at least do it publicly so the information is available to everyone else.  Excerpt from the Fair Play Guidelines:

Making agreements with other users to go or not go after specific players with the intent of avoiding recruiting/negotiation battles.

Ok well I will send him a sitemail letting him know that we can't talk about recruting per the above excerpt. Thanks for letting me know.

A+ for integrity.

Thanks for posting that, dahs - it appears I've been playing fair all along and didn't even know it :)

I remember you guys talked about how it was possible to coach 2 teams and use one to do the scouting and save the other's budget money.  That's expressly against the Guidelines:

"Using 1 team to scout for another team."

So can I assume that coaches who have done this have usually been caught and ejected from HD?

They are not going to eject anyone who "pays to play" unless the violation is outrageous ... and likely then only if it continues after a specific warning to stop on that particular team.

I  don't know of a single example where a coach has been ejected for that.

Usually I'll discuss a recruit once I've signed them, or once all of my slots are filled - when I'm no longer influencing races.

I once offered to provide FSS info to a conference mate via the CC on a player he'd signed.  The recruit was on the other side of the country from us and it was late in recruiting so I didn't know if he had the money left to use FSS.  He was going to get the player's potential in the player thoughts e-mail the next day anyway.  I still got a warning from admin.

Keywords in sitemails such as fss, potential alert admin? Similar to homeland security keywords bin laden and homemade bomb.

That's just absurd -- the guy had already signed.
